The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:35 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Gilles Bernier, Gerry Byrne, Roy Cullen, John Duncan, Ghislain Lebel, Carolyn Parrish, Carmen Provenzano, Ben Serré, Brent St. Denis.

Acting Members present: Rob Anders for Werner Schmidt and Réal Ménard for Pierre de Savoye.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Researcher.

Appearing: The Hon. Alfonso Gagliano, Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada.

Witnesses: From the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation: Marc Rochon, President; Douglas Stewart, Vice-President, Policy and Programs; Karen Kinsley, Vice-President, Insurance; André Asselin, Director, Strategic Planning, Policy and Marketing.

The Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-66, An Act to amend the National Housing Act and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Act.

The Minister made a statement and with the witnesses answered questions.

At 12:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
