Thursday, October 30, 1997.
The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:05 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 308, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Gilles Bernier, David Chatters, Roy Cullen, Raymonde Folco, Yvon Godin, Ovid L. Jackson, Jerry Pickard, Carmen Provenzano, Ben Serré, Darrel Stinson, Brent St. Denis and Bob Wood.
Acting Members present: René Canuel for Jocelyne Girard-Bujold.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: : Jean-Luc Bourdages and Jack Stilborn, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Natural Resources Canada: Dr. Yvan Hardy, Assistant Deputy Minister, Canadian Forestry Service; Peter Fisher, Director General, Policy, Planning Information and Services Branch; Murray Duke, Director General, Minerals and Regional Geoscience Branch; Dr. Marc Denis Everell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Earth Sciences Sector; Jacques Carette, Director General, Policy Planning and International Affairs Branch; Gordon Miller, Director General, Science Branch; Doug Ketcheson, Director General, Industry, Economics and Programs Branch.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), a briefing on the operations of Natural Resources Canada.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 12:12 o’clock p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 12:15 o’clock p.m., the sitting resumed.
