Wednesday, May 5, 1999

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, David Chatters, John Duncan, Tony Ianno, Carmen Provenzano, Werner Schmidt, Ben Serré and Brent St. Denis.

Acting Members present: David Price for Gilles Bernier; Pierrette Venne for Ghislain Lebel; Lorne Nystrom for Yvon Godin.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada: Steve Hindle, President; Rudy Loiselle, Pension and Benefits Advisor. From the Social Science Employees Association: William Krause, President; Claude Danik, Research Officer; Walter Kelm, Consultant.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Monday, April 26, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-78, Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act.

Steve Hindle and William Krause made statements and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 4:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
