Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Blondin-Andrew (Minister of State (Northern Development)) for Mr. Scott (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Peterson (Minister of International Trade), Bill C-54, An Act to provide first nations with the option of managing and regulating oil and gas exploration and exploitation and of receiving moneys otherwise held for them by Canada, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))
Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to provide first nations with the option of managing and regulating oil and gas exploration and exploitation and of receiving moneys otherwise held for them by Canada”.

Conformément aux articles 68(2) et 69(1) du Règlement, sur motion de Mme Blondin-Andrew (ministre d'État (Nord canadien)), au nom de M. Scott (ministre des Affaires indiennes et du Nord canadien), appuyé par M. Peterson (ministre du Commerce international), le projet de loi C-54, Loi visant à donner aux Premières Nations la possibilité de gérer et de réglementer l'exploration et l'exploitation du pétrole et du gaz ainsi que de recevoir les fonds que le Canada détient pour elles, est déposé, lu une première fois, l'impression en est ordonnée et la deuxième lecture en est fixée à la prochaine séance de la Chambre.

by establishing, as required, quotas on Chinese imports under the protocol on China’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO);

by allowing clothing made with Canadian textiles but manufactured abroad to be imported without customs duties;

by imposing stricter rules of origin on less developed countries;
